As the automotive manufacturing industry rapidly evolves, component machining faces the dual challenge of high-volume production and flexible model changeovers. At the core of this solution is a dual-spindle CNC lathe paired with an automatic bar feeder, enabling continuous and efficient machining. The equipment is equipped with an in-process laser probing system that continuously monitors workpiece dimensions during machining. Upon detecting deviations, the system automatically compensates in real time, ensuring each component meets stringent precision standards.

From a process optimization perspective, we have developed a comprehensive high-speed cutting parameter database. For example, in the machining of aluminum alloy wheel hubs, cutting speeds of up to 2,000 m/min are employed to significantly enhance efficiency. In parallel, a tool life management system monitors current fluctuations during cutting operations. When tool wear reaches a predefined threshold, the system triggers automatic tool change procedures, effectively preventing quality issues caused by tool degradation.

In terms of automation, the solution integrates a gantry robotic loading/unloading system and pallet exchange mechanism to enable 24/7 unmanned operation, greatly improving machine utilization. Moreover, the system is seamlessly connected to the MES (Manufacturing Execution System), allowing managers to monitor key metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and work order progress in real time-enabling transparent and intelligent production management.

This solution has demonstrated outstanding performance in a project involving the machining of automotive transmission gear shafts. By utilizing our turn-mill compound machining equipment in conjunction with advanced automatic feeding and in-line inspection systems, the cycle time per part was reduced from 12 minutes to 5 minutes-boosting production efficiency by over 100%. At the same time, the yield rate improved to 99.8%, and labor costs were reduced by 70%, generating significant economic benefits for the client.
